Summary

Serving as Bladen Community College’s Director of Student Success and Engagement, my overarching responsibility is exacting student success and maintaining a cooperative relationship with appropriate external entities and agencies that serve the best interest of BCC. In pursuit of this aim, I plan, implement, supervise, and evaluate BCC’s comprehensive, holistic, strategic and innovative advising program; and I promote an inclusive and engaging college experience, where students become self-directed learners through the delivery of centralized, high-quality academic support services. I manage a (staff of seven). Utilizing accurate financial forecasting, I manage the advising center’s budget ensuring all expenditures aligned with organizational goals, and I manage day-to-day operations. This includes creating staff schedules, facilitating professional development, performance evaluation, management of internal approvals, leading staff meetings and team building activities. I assist with the implementation of strategic priorities related to advising, retention, and degree completion; with the development of policies, programs, and student support activities that promote educational development; and I have spearheaded academic support initiatives that increased student retention rates (historical semester-to-semester growth, since my inception). I collaborate with key Student Success and Engagement stakeholders. This includes Accessibility Services, Career Services, Tutoring Services, academic departments, faculty, etc.
