My name is James Devlin. I have been a Police Officer for 20 years with the Carlsbad Police Dept, 7 years were as a Detective. During my career with the Police Dept, I also maintained a part time job, installing various types of fences as well as assisted with various construction type projects for the Police Dept, such as constructing steel carports. Over the course of my working adulthood, I have had several jobs in different fields of work. I have worked at one of the Potash Mines in Carlsbad as a refinery operator, an electrician apprentice in Snyder, a salesman/associate at a lumberyard, spent several years working at a fence company, and obtained my New Mexico contractors Fencing license and started my own Fence company that operated for 4 years. While maintaining my fence company I also began building carports, portable storage buildings, and deck simply because it presented a new learning experience. Over the course of my employment at some of these jobs I also operated front end loader, forklifts, and bobcat loader because I have always enjoyed staying busy. I have always been a loyal, dependable, and hard working employee for all of my employers and remained at these jobs for extended periods of time, only leaving when either a business shut down, life situations occurred, or a considerably better opportunity presented itself. I have always took pride in the fact that I have never been fired from a job and always maintained an appreciative and grateful attitude regardless of where I was working or what type of job it was.
