I was working as a track operator for K1 speed until being a cashier was added to my table of responsibilities. I was good at both so they let me work both as a cashier and as a track operator, whichever was needed more at a given time. As a casier I learned fast, and ended up selling the most race packages out of my other employees for that month. We are rated based on percentage of packages sold compared to the amount of single race packages sold. I had one of the highest percentages for my whole time as a cashier.
As a track operator I was responsible for running races for customers, on time, and safely. I was initially trained on pit, which consisted of pushing up karts in the rows, plugging karts in after getting them into the pits, and checking seatbelts before races, as well as answering any customers questions. As race master, I was trained next to control the speeds of the karts on the track using a remote speed limiter and slowing down races as needed for safety. I would also be using standard racing flags for communication with the drivers on the track. If anything were to happen on the track, I needed to be the first one out to assist in case of a crash or other emergency. And finally, on box, which is where we assign customers into races, start races, assist with any customer questions regarding scheduling, and karting rules, I excelled. I love talking to people and working under pressure, so I had races running at an average rate of 6-8 races per hour, where we were expected to run 6 per hour. Overall this is where most of my experience lies.
I was a floor sales associate, responsible for store clean up, stocking, welcoming guests, and completing transactions, both for in person purchases, and online orders.
