  • Responsible for a safe navigational bridge watch. VHF radio calls with other vessels & VTS when coming in or out of port. Finding position of the vessel by means of GPS, radar, terrestrial bearings & Celestial. Avoiding other ships and small vessels with collision avoidance in high or low density traffic areas. Monitoring and informing of weather developments. Calling the Master with any doubt.
  • Deck work/inspections of safety & firefighting equipment. Extensive Knowledge of safety before the job. JHA & NS5 paperwork and filing.
  • In charge of the stern during mooring operations. Coordinating with the Master on the bridge and the crew that was present at the stern. In control of mooring winches to secure the vessel to berth. Rig towing vessels for assistance in docking.
  • Utilized hoisting equipment, vehicles or forklift to load and unload necessary vessel equipment and supplies.
  • Cargo operations consisted of following the cargo plan. Checking and monitoring mooring lines & vessel stability. Monitoring safety of stevedores and cargo. Checking integrity and fastening of securing cargo.
