At my short time at Vulcan, I was rewarded a "Work Ethic" bonus and award, that only 1 person within the company gets each year. I held many different responsibilities and learned many different jobs to be able to help out wherever I was needed.

In charge of house keeping around plant. Training belts, checking wear parts on crushers and changing as needed. Check screens and change as needed or to comply with material testing. Design and fabricate guards for conveyors and crushers. Fabricate material containment boxes. Fix and replace conveyor belts.

I started off as an operator at Fann and got a promotion to Mechanic Fabricator. I also ran equipment as needed.

Took care of 2000 head Of cows on a cow calf operation. Was in charge of pasture moves and hiring help, scheduling vets to come preg check cows and vaccinate calves. Haul water to pastures without dirt tanks or springs. Check first calf heifers in the winter sometimes having to pull the calf out for them.

Lay mainline water, sewer, storm drain, and electrical conduit, and dig trench for gas company to lay gas line. Mark out line for trench and check grade. Check for correct flow on sewer. Dig services with backhoe. Backfill with loader and sheep's foot roller or excavator roller. Set manholes and build fire hydrants.

Assist backhoe in digging footers for houses being built in a subdivision. Spot and check grade. Tie in electrical service from box to house once building was completed.
