Work History

Technical Director

Davidson Technologies
Huntsville, AL
02.2024 - Current
  • Developing and implementing Davidson's technical roadmap, transforming the company into a technology-driven organization, leveraging M&S and AI/ML techniques to create differentiating solutions in the defense sector through IRAD project definition and execution.
  • Leading collaborations with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) to create command and control techniques that optimize air and missile defense strategies for mission planning and real-time applications.
  • Regularly manage and contribute to the development of proposals for specific technical initiatives.

Director of Engineering / M&S Lead

Davidson Technologies
Huntsville, AL
06.2022 - 02.2024
  • Led the development and implementation of innovative C++ trajectory optimization software using IPOPT, with custom collocation techniques for rapid, accurate multi-phase trajectories. Architected in an object-oriented structure for scalability, hosted in GitLab, and supported by automated testing tools in MATLAB and Python.
  • Researched cutting-edge Quantum Computing platforms and designed defense-related problem sets to evaluate their performance against classical computing techniques. Included applications for logistics, scheduling, and defense system emplacement optimization.
  • Directed the design and development of a Space Domain Awareness/Geospatial Visualization tool created with the Unity Game Engine and a custom discrete event simulation written in C++ for Space Command.

Principal Systems Engineer

Raytheon Technologies
Woburn, MA
07.2014 - 06.2022

Principal Investigator for Digital Transformation Initiative (Aug 2021 – June 2022)

  • Directed the development of highly parameterized sensor, tracker, and interceptor models in C++.
  • Integrated these models into a Multi-Disciplinary Design Optimization (MDO) framework, creating Digital Twin system representations for evaluation in AFSIM and other simulations.
  • Utilized CMake to build high-performance, cross-platform C++ libraries.

Developed Particle Flow Filter (PFF) Implementation in CUDA/C++ (Mar 2021 - Aug 2021)

  • Investigated runtime feasibility of the PFF on problems with exceedingly large numbers of dimensions.
  • Required development of novel CUDA kernels to take full advantage of GPU parallelization. Used Eigen matrix library and CUDA libraries.

SW Architect for Arbitrary Waveform Signal Processor in CUDA/C++ (Nov 2020 - Aug 2021)

  • Designed and implemented high performance software to produce random phase coded waveforms, simulate waveform returns, perform pulse compression, and two-dimensional CFAR detection processing.
  • Software was optimized to minimize runtime associated with very large FFT sizes by optimizing computation on the CPU and GPU via extensive code profiling and CUDA libraries.

Principal Investigator of Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS) Modeling Initiative (Jan 2019 – Dec 2020)

  • Modeling enhancements focused on research and implementation of track and measurement fusion techniques and weapon-to-target pairing techniques to optimize performance of the entire kill chain.
  • Developed Interacting Multiple Model Tracker composed of several types of Linear, Extended, and Unscented Kalman Filters with individual filter dynamics.

Software Lead & Team Lead for the CX-EDT Simulation Software Product (July 2014 - May 2019)

  • Conducted the proposal generation, staff planning, earned value analysis, and managed the execution of a dynamic team size of 10 to 20 engineers.
  • CX-EDT is the all-digital, high-fidelity simulation of the AN/TPY-2 missile defense radar. The software accurately simulates all stages of radar operation including scheduling, signal processing, tracking, and discrimination.
  • Source code for this simulation is over 350,000 SLOC of C++. Performed technical oversight and guidance of all software development and testing, and managed build releases for two primary customers using git to configure branches as required.

Senior Systems Engineer

Raytheon IDS
Tewksbury, MA
02.2009 - 07.2014
  • Principal Investigator and Team Lead of the OpsTool IRAD. This multi-year project created a novel stochastic simulation and visualization infrastructure in C#, C++, and Java using the Visual Studio and EclipseIDEs.
  • This software is used to predict system level performance and provide real-time demonstrations of air and missile defense systems via parameterized models.
  • Simulation has more than 250,000 SLOC, and includes many system models at varying levels of fidelity. Supports M&S efforts for US & international customers.

Systems Engineer

Raytheon IDS
Tewksbury, MA
07.2005 - 02.2009
  • Performed operations analysis and simulation tasks which included integrated air defense system analyses and engagement optimization strategies conducted in MATLAB and C++.
