Summary

Based in New York City, Korean-American violist James Yeolim Yoon quickly established themself as an advocate for the arts through performance and teaching. Hailed as “overwhelmingly satisfying and lyrically elegant...” (Herald Tribune), James is a graduate of the Yale School of Music, receiving their Master of Music degree and their Bachelor of Music degree at the Cleveland Institute of Music. As a chamber musician, James has worked with musicians including Midori, Garry Hoffman, Nils Mönkemeyer, Hillel Zori and members of the Orion, Brentano and Leipzig string quartets, among others. James has been awarded in multiple competitions, including the first prize at the KRB International Competition and the Grand Prize at the New York International Music Competition. Invitations and appearances at festivals include Aspen Music Festival, Lake George, Schleswig-Holstein, Keshet Eilon, Sarasota Music Festival, Krzyżowa-Music, IMS Prussia Cove and many more. James plays on a 2013 Grubaugh & Seifert viola through the generosity of the Virtu Foundation.
