Floral Design, 2020-2021, 9-12, This course satisfies the fine arts graduation requirement. Floral Design will allow the student to identify and demonstrate the principles and techniques related to floral design as well as understand the management of the floral industry. Artistic floral styles, historical periods, cultural tendencies and art principles will be studied. The student will acquire the knowledge and skills related to horticulture systems and career opportunities. Students will be encouraged to practice leadership learning and knowledge of the FFA., every 6 weeks, Careers in the Floral and Horticulture industry, Properly identify types, colors and families of flowers and plants., Be current on worldwide events, news and standards regarding the floral/horticulture industry., Identify design principles and techniques in floral art and interiorscapes., Demonstrate floral design techniques and principles., Develop and formulate ideas from the environment and art elements., Make informed judgements about personal designs and designs of others., Demonstrate designs, business practices, and creativity in the floral industry., Managing a floral enterprise., The FFA program, leadership skills, and agriculture., Pen, pencils, writing utensil-no red ink., Notebook paper/Notebook, Coloring pencils/pens (if desired to have your own), If student is absent, they will be allowed 2 school days per absence to complete and turn in the missed assignments. Late work will be accepted, but 10 points will be deducted from the assignment per each day that it is late and will only be accepted a maximum of 3 days late or a 30-point deduction., This class will be lab driven, and proper attire will be required. Students will be notified two days in advance of laboratory work or activities that require special attire. Proper attire includes long pants, closed toe shoes, and at times a long sleeve shirt. Do not wear anything that you do not want torn or dirty., Tests, SAE/AET Hours, Group Projects, Bell Work, Presentations, Research Projects, Weekly Discussion Posts, Lab Assignments, Daily Attendance and participation, Presentations, Group projects, Miscellaneous activities, Each student must have or develop an approved Supervised Agriculture Experience program and record hours/expenses/income in the AET online workbook. We will make time for this in class. We will discuss leadership roles, the FFA program, and community service weekly inside our classroom. Granbury FFA offers several opportunities for students to engage in leadership activities and community service projects, which will be an integral part of this course., Have fun!, Be professional and polite., Arrive on time., Wear your mask!, Phones will NOT be allowed to be used/seen/out on desk unless specific direction are given to use it. If expecting a call/emergency, please let me know before class., Follow directions and instructions when and as they are given., NO FOOD of any kind will be allowed/eaten inside the classroom (campus policy) and you will not be allowed to go to the student store to buy food/drinks during class time., Do NOT leave the classroom without permission. If student leaves classroom without permission, they will be considered truant and be sent directly to the office., Students will need emailed permission from teacher to go to another class if needed., The districts electronic policy will be followed., Respect each other, yourself and your teacher., Be actively engaged in discussion and participate in group discussions and projects., Bathroom breaks will be allowed but not in excess and your phone will be turned in before you go., Written/verbal warning., Email/phone call to parents., Referral to the office., Major infraction will result in immediate referral-such as fighting or destruction of property., 08/21/20
