I work under the supervision of doctors and nurses. I am responsible for the basic assessment and basic care of medical, trauma, and environmental emergencies. Patient Advocate, Patient care based on patients needs and within my scope of practice. Triage of patients, rooming patients, customer service daily, vital signs, EKG's(12 lead), transports, sterile/scrub tech in ER as needed by MD's, code blue and white(CPR), Take care of our 5150 holds if needed one on one care, Perform Ortho care Ex: splints, slings, wound care, stocking ER floor. Cleaning and preparing pts rooms, completely knowledgeable on how to re-stock crash carts, use of all equipment in ER for patient care. Completely knowledgeable in cardiac monitoring. Knowledgeable in pts blood draws if needed.
I was a health technician substitute to work on call. As needed or PRN. My job duties here working in the front office was to ensure the safety of students on campus and if they have any medical emergencies that needed to be addressed. I would be the care of that, also any student that had diabetes for example
I would check their blood sugar throughout the day, and appropriately treat within my scope of practice, an RN would be on-site as well. Students that may have gotten injured out on the playground. They would come and see me. If the student was having a medical emergency that was not treatable on campus , it was my duty to Call 911, have the medics show up on scene, assess the child and any appropriate medical care or action that need to be taken would be addressed immediately. This was an on-call position for me.

While working as an attendant in back of ambulance I was responsible for assessing patients from head to toe, taking vital signs, monitoring patients, treating based on my scope of practice, giving and taking medical orders to my dispatch over the radio, or on the phone to the base hospital.
