Special education teacher with 3 years of experience working in a highly diverse classroom with students ranging from TK-6th grade. During these three years I continued to build a program that supports each student, not only academically through their IEPs' but social and emotionally. The students learned how to navigate their own personal schedules as they moved from one group to another along with taking responsibility in keeping track of their school materials. I also created a geography study that explores different cultures, regions, and beliefs that engages the students through many modalities such as workbooks, videos, and slideshow presentations. This was designed as a way to appreciate different cultures, beliefs and ideas that our fellow classmates may bring with them. At the end of the units we held a festival day where we cooked food from the country that we studied.
Along with the 3 years of teaching experience I have 7 years of being a paraprofessional in the Chico Unified School districts. During those years I Assisted teachers in presenting lessons, while providing a safe and productive environment for students with developmental disabilities. This is where I became passionate about the teaching of students with physical, emotional, and academic disabilities
