Monitored vital signs of patients pre-operatively and post-operatively. Provided patient education on preoperative and postoperative care instructions. NIH Stroke and Neurological assessment for management of CVA patients. Caring for patients with polysusbstance abuse and ETOH withdrawal including CIWA scoring. Managing CHF exacerbation and COPD exacerbation. Managing patients on Cardizem IV medication, post Left heart and Right heart catheterization. Reviewing telemetry monitoring ECG strips and analyzing cardiac rhythms. Medication administration through various routes such as PEG/NG tubes, IV, Subcutaneous, and PO. Admission and discharge management. Patient and family education on CVA, Diabetes, CHF, COPD, and medication regimen compliance. Assessed patient conditions, monitored behaviors and updated supervising physicians with observations and concerns. Advocated for patient needs with interdisciplinary team and implemented outlined treatment plans.

Current role is caring for LVAD and Cardiac telemetry patient population while managing chronic cardiac ailments and dysrhythmia. Preparing patients pre-op for cardiac procedures and receiving post-op patients from cardiac procedures, i.e. LHC/RHC, Cardiac ablations, Pacemaker implants;etc. Experience with managing TR bands, sheath pulls, and inotrpoes for patients with Acute Decompensated Heart Failure. Currently serving as a unit CLABSI champion and as a preceptor for student nurses and new hire nurses.

Experience in this role with triaging patients and providing nurse driven orders and care based on pt's chief complaints and symptoms. Also communicating with the assigned provider the plan of care for the patient's specific needs. Conducted research into related medical issues and care standards through residency EBP project.
