On two separate occasions, I was able to win a $5000 grant for my classroom. These grants were intended to boost student performance, attendance and academic achievement. In order to do this, I purchased a classroom library, and real, hands on objects (real world currency, ostrich leather, etc) that I used to make my class and lessons more engaging and interesting and applicable for my students.
