I graduated from the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in the Spring of 2021 with a Bachelor of Arts in anthropology and a minor in interdisciplinary linguistics. I tailored my anthropology course requirements to reflect heavily on archaeology. The three courses that I took that are most applicable to this position are laboratory techniques in archaeology, advanced laboratory techniques in archaeology, and applied archaeology field school. I studied under Doctors Karen Larkin and Minette Church. Throughout my time as a student, I took it upon myself to conduct an experimental archaeology project with the research topic of Medieval English archers from the period of the Hundred Years War using traditional English Longbows and kit. I am also experienced with flintknapping and pottery making.
In addition to my academic experience, I also have sixteen years of military service as a U.S. Army Special Forces soldier/Green Beret. I lived and operated throughout Europe, Africa, and the Middle East during my service. Unlike other Special Operations Forces, the Green Berets primarily deal with people. They treat humans as the most valuable piece of terrain on the battlefield. For Green Berets to accomplish their mission, they are trained in intercultural communication as well as foreign language proficiency. I myself speak Modern Standard Arabic and Iraqi dialect. I am also a trained combat diver using open circuit compressed air and closed-circuit rebreather diving devices. I am recognized by the National Association of Underwater Instructors as a master scuba diver should there be a need for any underwater excavation operations.
