In this leadership position, I was responsible for the safe, effective, and efficient day-to-day operations of the public school district’s Transportation Department, with emphasis on professionalism and attention to detail.

• Administrative duties included, but were not limited to. Direct support for the transportation director. Attending district meetings, transportation conferences, computer software/transportation programs, employee management, payroll, hiring procedures, standard operating procedures, vehicle and fuel management, vendor contracts, drug testing, monthly staff safety meetings, and transportation liaison for local, state, and federal regulation compliance.
• Operation duties included, but were not limited to. Managing a large team that includes bus drivers, bus attendants, routing/dispatch coordinators, mechanics, and certified trainers. Daily activities consisted of critical thinking, problem solving. Implementing and responding to emergencies, as well as the creation and maintenance of bus routes. Employee coaching, daily route assignments, field trips, processing phone calls, and 2-way radio calls with drivers, district staff, and customers. Interacting with the community, which included handling diverse inquiries and challenging situations with patients, and empathy.

• Developed and maintained over 100 daily bus routes
• Coordinated with different departments and communities to complete special or unique routes

• First point of contact for the transportation department
• Process phone and radio calls with drivers, community members and school staff
• Develop and maintain all field trips
• Implementing / responding to emergency procedures

• Drove an 84 passenger transit style bus with no accidents or incidents
• Maintained safety of Passengers which consisted of preschoolers to adults
