My position at the student dining services has a variety of fast food concepts located in the Memorial Union at the University of North Dakota. A few of my job positions and tasks includes:


- Dakota Deli Team Member: I have worked in the kitchen preparing food, at the front counter helping customers through the ordering process. Other duties include preparing sandwiches and a variety of other foods that require preparation, provides exceptional customer service, maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in all work areas,, measure ingredients required for specific food items being prepared.

- Chick-Fil-A Team Member: My work in the kitchen includes preparing food, at the front counter helping customers through the ordering process, and cleaning and washing dishes, prepare and cook to order food and assembling of sandwiches that require preparation in a timely manner, take orders from customers, maintain sanitation, health and safety standards in work areas, clean food preparation areas, operate large-volume cooking equipment, verify food meets quality and quantity expectations, wash, cut, and prepare foods designated for cooking.

- Dish room/Lobby : My position provides support to production staff, service staff and customers by providing clean and sanitary dishes, tables, floors, and cooking equipment. Other duties include operating dish machine according to instructions and informs production manager when supply of detergent or other chemicals are low. Sorts dishes, silverware, trays and pans; washes them; returns them to their designated storage areas, disassembles, scrubs, washes, sanitizes and reassembles dish machine daily, polishes machine daily, sprays out pulper and grease traps and conveyor belt daily

The diversity of positions I have worked for provided opportunities to learn more about the skillsets used. All of these positions is located in the Gorecki Alumni Center in my university. Many positions of my job that I have worked for includes:

- Call Center Representative: My position as a Call Center Representative includes answering phone calls and emails in our Admissions Call Center. Other duties include: Answer incoming phone calls, complete outgoing calls for specific call groups, monitor and respond to emails, complete data input, miscellaneous office duties such as scanning and printing as needed, assist with staffing the front desk to greet and check in campus visitors, serve as a model of excellence in professionalism and customer service as I represent the University of North Dakota.

- Front Desk: This position manages greeting and checking in campus visitors for appointments such as campus tours. Other duties include handling university merchandise (to provide for visitors), managing tour times for tour guides listed for the day, and answering questions from visitors.

- Tour Guide: My position as a campus tour guide will greet and assist with checking in visitors at the Admissions office front desk. Tour Guides will assist an Admissions Representative in providing a 30 minute overview about UND (University of North Dakota) and student life, followed by my tour, of an hour long walking campus tour to prospective students and families.

Poolman Leadership Academy Leadership Award at the University of North Dakota (April 2024)

  • The Poolman Leadership Academy was started in 2015 through a generous donation from Jim and Nicole Poolman. Jim and Nicole held various leadership positions both at UND and after their graduation, and they wanted to help emerging leaders understand and learn about leadership so that they can better serve UND and their communities.
  • The program is available during the fall and spring semesters and is for students seeking to expand their understanding of leadership and understanding their individual leadership strengths. The Academy will explore various leadership theories, as well as address components of leadership such as values, ethics, collaboration, etc. This contains six, one-hour sessions. The sessions are conducted in-person, and participants must attend all of the sessions in order to receive completion from the program. Participants also attend a variety of campus and community events focusing on development (seminars, conferences, etc.).To complete the program, participants must actively participate in at least one student organization. They will also complete a number of volunteer service hours.

I have been elected into membership because of outstanding character and achievement.

Organizations

Student Government in Swanson Hall at the University of North Dakota (January 2023 - May 2024)

  • Student Government is active on campus in supporting the voice of UND students through student representation and legislation regarding student issues. In addition, Student Government financially supports free bus rides, student discounts, student organizations, and other programs and services across campus.
  • Student Government meetings are held once a week in their respective student dormitory buildings (my dormitory building was in Swanson Hall).
  • Student Government is committed to upholding the University of North Dakota's longstanding traditions and to innovatively create new traditions for students. We strive to help the University grow and move forward with a student minded perspective.

UND Association of Residence Halls at the University of North Dakota (January 2024 - Present)

  • ARH is comprised of student leaders from each hall who work closely with Housing and Dining staff to promote a positive residential experience for students. Student-led committees plan programs, get residents involved, and oversee many of the great things happening in the residence halls.
  • Concerns about residence hall policies and improvements are channeled to Housing administration through ARH. To voice such concerns or suggestions, ARH encourages residents to speak with hall government members, hall staff or email housing@UND.edu.

Social Media Coordinator affiliated with the UND Flying Musicians Association Chapter (January 2024 - Present)

  • The Flying Musicians Association Chapter are a group of students who share our passions in order to inspire, educate, and assist others through presentations, performances, and networking. We are planning multiple events this year involving musical performances, field trips, and volunteering in the local community.
  • My coordinator position includes editing, publishing, and formatting photos & descriptions across social media boards such as Instagram.

Volunteering at the University of North Dakota

  • The Big Event (April 2024): The mission of the Big Event at UND is to foster goodwill and common goals among the students, the University of North Dakota, and the greater Grand Forks community through community service initiatives. The Big Event started in 2005 and is the largest annual single-day community service event completed by UND students, faculty, and staff in the greater Grand Forks area. Each year, The Big Event has gotten successively bigger with more volunteers participating and more service jobs being completed. Volunteers serve at local churches, non-profits, and elderly individuals’ homes in addition to many others. They rake, paint, pick up garbage, wash windows, work with nursing home residents, assist at YMCA youth events, ready local parks for summer, and much more.
  • Ralph Engelstad Arena fundraising volunteer (January 2024): Assisted in cleaning the hockey arena by collecting trash from aisles and chairs, sweeping floors, and mopping floors and stairwells with a club group (UND Flying Musicians Chapter)
  • Skate at the Ralph day affiliated with ARH (Association of Residence Halls) (March 2024) at the University of North Dakota: Helped prepare and open the facility by loading skate equipment, setting up signs, logging attendance sheets and phone numbers to call. Many students came and got to skate on the ice.
