Environmental Restoration and Reef Building

Prior to taking the position as General Manager of Ocean Cay, Jayson was owner of a company that specialized in tidal and non-tidal wetland restoration in the Chesapeake and Coastal Bays of MD, VA, and Delaware. Focus evolved from wetland restoration to sub-aquatic, involving submerged aquatic vegetation/seagrass in combination with shellfish to enhance or restore submerged bottom. His passion for the environment continues to be pursued through his collaboration with Sea and Shoreline Aquatic Restoration where he consults with their nursery operation in Sebastian, FL.

As his presence in the environmental industry became established, Jayson was able to cultivate relationships with companies and individuals restoring reefs, using oysters in the Chesapeake Bay and corals in Florida. Interest in reef restoration accelerated once Jayson relocated to South Florida and began to work in the Bahamas. Currently he holds a board position with Reef Builders International, and provides assistance to waterman in the Chesapeake Bay acquire submerged land leases for shellfish aquaculture.
