Before becoming a mother I worked in the social services field. I worked with a franchise known as Comfort Keepers for several years which involved non medical care for elderly and disabled persons. I also worked at People Inc for several years at a group home. I worked with adults males with varying degrees of developmental disabilities.
I am a mother to an 11 year old daughter. I was a stay at home mother to her for the first year or so. I am very dedicated to her. Her father, my partner, owns a restaurant. I have supported him with his endeavors while working part time and attending school over the past 11 years.
I chose to homeschool my daughter for three years because I felt that was the best option for her at the time. Although I was not employed in the public it was a challenging and rewarding job and I am grateful to have had the opportunity.
I look forward to rejoining the workforce soon.
While at UB I took an Evolutionary Biology course. It was one of the best courses I have ever taken. It gave a glimpse and relatively short synapse of the evolution of life from the time the planet formed 4.5 billion years ago until now. This definitely broadened my understanding of life from a biological perspective.
I just want to note that I did return to school top pursue a degree in psychology although I put that on hold for the time being.
I studied massage therapy for a semester but decided that it wasn't a field I wanted to pursue. However I did take an Anatomy and Physiology class as well as a Myology class. These classes have shaped my understanding of the human body and its functions both physically and physiologically.
