After customer service training, I was invited into the customer's home to inspect and quote plumbing issues. Once approved, I performed the work desired.

The type of quotes and work ranges from leaks in the slab, rerouting water lines overhead, to small things like installing valves and fixtures. Typically, we would be on call for one week throughout the month, showing up for level two calls and emergencies.

• I was working with a master new construction plumber, learning the ropes of how things are built. This was where I got the ability to see "through walls" and visualize how the pipes are run. I got to see every step of how to build a new home or business. They mainly used SharkBite water fittings, which I was not a fan of due to a lack of craftsmanship or warranty. This is where I felt I needed to learn the most, as I was taught as a residential repair plumber for many years.

• This is where I was taught the majority of what I know. I had several great mentors who helped me become a better young man, develop a great work ethic, and identify a lot of job-specific specialty tools. We had contracts with the Zachary, Louisiana, school system, and also with Sterling Properties buildings. This taught me about the commercial repair side of things, as well as the residential repair side. I would work most weekends when asked, and I took on many small jobs for the company owner as well.
