) Much of the the first 5-6 years after my first year I was primary trainer for new employees in residential building and electrical inspections.

) With a special interest and focus on energy efficiency I was often called upon to assist in training all inspectors on understanding and interpreting energy related issues involving the envelope and particularly the most efficient way to insulate fireplaces). After moving to commercial inspection it became clear many electricians were not adept at torquing panels and meter boxes etc. With the support of my supervisor I implemented a practice of having electricians on site for electrical releases with a torque wrench and witnessing the torque process in leiu of accepting torque reports. In a short time that became SOP in Frisco. ( I'm told many other jurisdictions now require similar procedures).

) Two years ago it became a priority to get a plumbing inspectors licence to make me a more complete inspector.

These two are ongoing part time businesses on weekends and evenings.

Fence Staining is extremely impacted by weather and not reliable steady income, but can provide occasional boosts as needed.

Attic and Filter Services was created as a result of meeting the need to address the inefficiency of attic access ladders. I developed and produced "The Insulated Attic Door" which goes over existing attic access ladders located inside the envelope. It progressed into creating a route system of changing air filters in homes and and businesses. These routes are run on the second Saturday of every month. (Neither of these were promoted or conducted while on the clock with the city of Frisco. All levels of management are aware of these off duty activities.)

At that time I completed the Texas A&M's extention service training specifically created for small cities and became a multiple inspector. I let those certifications expire after leaving that job.
