I started out building pre-sold custom homes from just a sheet of Worked on having the plans drawn up to meet the buyers needs and wants. Signed contracts and worked with buyers to obtain financing. I also worked with buyers to help them pick out the main allowance items such as light fixtures, floor coverings, cabinets, appliances, and coordinate exterior colors.
Then I beg
Owned and managed dump trucks and OTR semi's. I had 12 local tandems and dump semi's trailers. I had 20 to 25 OTR semi's that ran from the Mississippi River east and north to south of the United States. I had my own mechanics and we did all the inspections, maintenance and repairs to all the trucks and trailers.
Built Assisted Livings with Memory Care units attached. Built 5 communities ranging from 45,000 sq ft to 70,000 sq ft single level communities and up to 120,000 sq ft 3 stories. I would purchase raw land or land that was already zone for another use. Get the land annexed into the city and work with the city zoning department to get it rezoned for our specific use. Also work with the city to try to get projects added into an enterprise zone or TIF district. I worked with all the utility companies to get all the utilities to the project and get them upgraded to meet our needs. I did all the land development from the ground up. I built them and also manage some of them.
Built multi-family units under Bentley Contractors Corp and put into the rental units. Also built 322 mini warehouse units with 14 office warehouse units built by Bentley Contractors Corp. Eventually sold all of them and the company that bought my mini warehouse units bought the adjacent 5 acres and we built another 300 plus units.
I owned and ran JBR until I got remarried. In 2015 we thought we might be able to get a minority status on the local trucking so we started Carry Trucking Services LLC. After we went through all the process I found out my net worth was too much, so we weren't able to get a minority status. I eventually closed JBR Trucking and ran everything through Carry Trucking Services LLC.
I bought this franchise to have for my step son to run and operate. Most PuroClean franchisee's do about $50K the first year, $100K the second year and $150K plus the third year. We did $226K our 1st year, $738K our 2nd year and $1.2M our 3rd year. We lost AJ in March of 2015 and I lost interest in the business because it did require a lot of my time. The person I had in charge did a great job for awhile but he was also close to AJ and finally got to where he lost interest as well. I decided to close the business and sell the equipment.
We installed all types of floor coverings. Ceramic tile, all laminates and solid wood floors, vinyl flooring and carpet. We worked mainly on new construction which lead me to start my own construction company in 1994 and after 3 years of doing both I decided to stop doing the floor covering and split my contractors up between 2 of my lead installers.
I started working with my father in the summer of 1975 when i was 13 years old, i started laying floor covering. He taught me the trade as well as my work ethic and the ability to work for myself. In the summer of 1980 after I graduated high school I began working with him full time until the end on 1982.
I was the foreman of the paint shop and lead painter. I supervised the other employees in the paint shop and did all the schedules for each job. Made sure they vehicles were completed on time and cleaned up before they were to be delivered to the customers.
I'm a huge boat enthusiast. I have had several different boats and sizes of boats from runabouts to smaller performance boats, clear up to high end performance boats with triple 700's. I raced SBI offshore racing in 2014 for one year. We came in 3rd in the US Nationals and 3rd in the World Championships.
I grew up around cars and I have always had too many of them. Prior to my divorce I had a nice sports car collection. Just to name a few I had a Bentley Continental GT Mulliner, 2000whp GTR, Porsche 911 Turbo S, Camaro Z28, 2015 and a 2018 Camaro ZL1 1 LE track car. I do half mile events and autocross.
I grew up riding motorcycles and racing them. I got away from them for several years and then I got into rock crawling with a Monster Jeep that I built. Then I got into side by sides and doing extreme off-roading.
I recently got a divorce in October of 2019. Although I still have ownership in most of the companies I have listed in this resume, Im now ready to get out of ownership of companies and work for somebody other than myself. I have had a vacation home in Cape Coral since 2016 and in January of 2020 I moved to Cape Coral permanently. I have kept busy since moving here with my business affairs that I have in Illinois and now is the time for me to share my years of knowledge and expertise.
