Surface Maintenance Inspector

  • Currently hold a Wage Grade 11 position at a Field Maintenance Shop. . I inspect equipment to ensure that physical and operating characteristics are within acceptable standards. Duties involve complex inspection work that requires a wide variety of inspection processes and techniques.
  • Also assigned as a wheeled vehicle mechanic and team leader in C 1/112th Aviation, responsible for the maintenance of a variety of wheeled vehicles and supervision of six Soldiers
  • Active-duty assignment: Fort Bragg, NC
  • Deployments: Provided area/convoy security, in addition to vehicle maintenance/recovery operations, during overseas assignments in Iraq (Two Tours - Operation Iraqi Freedom)
  • I have used diagnostic equipment daily, such as the SWICE kit, Robinaire and Snap-On A/C units, TCM code harness, and Dearborn programs
  • I have performed complete overhaul of transmissions systems on ¼ ton to 10-ton vehicles
  • I have performed electrical, hydraulics, pneumatic analysis/repair
  • Replacing transmission and body wiring harness, and A/C lines
  • Have replaced pneumatic sensors, and hydraulic components
  • Additionally, I have experience in Production Control techniques, such as ordering parts, open/closing dispatches and work orders, adding/deleting faults in equipment tracking data bases and tracking man-hours using the SAMS-E and GCSS-Army programs
  • Provided excellence in automotive repair for an entire fleet of military vehicles both in garrison and while deployed to hazardous duty zones
  • Responsible for missions to recover disabled vehicles during convoy operations in Iraq
  • Responsible for assisting the Parts Clerk with identifying the correct National Stock Numbers (NSN) for parts integral for the repair of broken equipment within the fleet of vehicles
