For the last five years I worked at colonial national historic park for the national park service. I was a maintenance worker on the roads, grounds and trails division of the facility management department. My work duties included many different tasks including:

-mowing lawns and roadsides with commercial grade front mounted mower deck tractors.

-weed whipping

-trash pickup and removal

-hedge trimming bushes

-chainsaw cutting of fallen trees, cutting down leaning or hazard trees and standing trees that needed fell

-replacement of broken or old and faded signs both informational and regulatory signs

-use of woodchippers to remove brush and small trees from roadsides and parking lots

-work alongside of large equipment like dump trucks, backhoes, front end loaders, farm tractors and skid steers

-operate tractors

-drive heavy duty pickup trucks while towing loaded open trailers

-clean and clear storm drains, ditches and small dams

-input information onto different computer programs

I worked for the national park service at Yellowstone national park. I worked on the roads crew. I also had an extra duty working for the safety office. I would make sure all workers in the maintenance division in my district worked safely. I would hold weekly safety meetings with all employees to help with proper safety trainings import for our field of work; I also would report any safety concerns from employees or myself to the safety committee when needed. while working on the roads crew I would get daily instructions via telephone call for job duties needing to be completed each day. I was not a supervisor, but I was a senior employee who was tasked with giving work assignments to other employees to ensure efficient workflow and safe operations of tasks to be preformed. I would coordinate safe setup of temporary work zones as needed for the daily work assignments. I would assist in setting up work zone signage, making proper flagger zones if needed for job assignment and placement of cones or other traffic control devices. Work duties I preformed included;

-cutting with a chainsaw of downed trees

-clearing debris from drainage areas

-using a velocity patcher to fill in potholes and plow drainage on roadways

-use cold patch to fill potholes

-spread and roll hot asphalt on larger road patches

-replacement of broken or wore street signs

-replace broken or damaged sections of guardrails

-plow snow with heavy duty pickup trucks

-operate a bobcat skid steer for snow blowing, sweeping, trenching, hole drilling, fork life operations and loading and spreading of materials from sand, gravel and wood

-operate small 4 yard dump trucks

-operate backhoes and front end loaders

-install and remove snow stakes along roadways for plowing

-operate snowmobiles
