Capstone Project: During junior year of high school, completed an advanced placement dual-semester course focused on researching the limitations of incorporating CRISPR-Cas9 genetic engineering into the rural healthcare system of Elon, NC. Conducted interviews and collaborated with biology professors at Elon University who specialize in genetics. Additionally, performed a statistical analysis of census data and triangulated these findings with qualitative data to identify common themes and limiting factors. Presented this research in a 6,000-word paper, which received high marks, and delivered a 20-minute presentation to a panel of faculty.
