Served as the primary liaison to the Board of Health, providing updates, reports, and recommendations on public health issues and policies. Provide oversight to all programs including maternal/child health, I-Smile/I-Smile Silver, disease investigation, emergency preparedness, Women, Infant, Children program, immunizations, and home health department. Oversee daily operations, including program development, service delivery, and performance monitoring. Ensure compliance with state and federal laws, administrative rules, and funding requirements. Experience managing budgets, grants, and multi-disciplinary teams.
Eighteen years of Public Health knowledge and experience. Initial nine years consisted of contributions to home health care, health promotion, child and adult immunizations, Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program, HIV case management, STD testing, treatment, and education, child and maternal health services, community care coordination, and jail and emergency department (ED) diversion. In 2016, promoted to Chief Nurse Officer of the WCHD and Clinical Nurse Manager supervising all home health services. Developed current policy and procedures for home health approved and implemented by the Board of Health (BOH). Provided leadership, guidance, and expertise to the home health care team. Specific focus on Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) within the home health Quality Assurance Performance Improvement (QAPI) plan. Continued collaboration across all departments to reach the most desired positive health outcomes.
Began nursing career at Trinity Regional Medical Center in 2000 on the Medical-Surgical Unit, providing skilled care to post-surgical and acutely ill patients. Completed a 4 year travel nursing assignment, gaining broad clinical experience across diverse hospital settings and patient populations. Returned in 2005 as a staff nurse in the Critical Care Unit, delivering intensive care to critically ill patients during their most vulnerable moments. Later transitioned into a Flex Nurse role, supporting all hospital units by assisting with admissions, discharges, IV insertions, bedside procedures, order management, and direct patient care.
