Self sufficient in maintaining work area, including: keeping inventory of supplies to be used by NSBDWM in Wainwright, organizing items for easy access and easy storage, maintaining work building by cleaning and shoveling ramp/steps as needed.
Specializing in taking surveys regarding subsistence and wildlife, as well as taking/sending samples from wild animals. Working to maintain a balanced and informed amount of subsistence taken within Wainwright and all it's hunting grounds.
Surveys include: beach surveys, bowhead surveys, caribou harvest surveys, and year-round subsistence activity surveys.
Samples can be taken from: bowhead whale, seals, polar bear, caribou, wolves, wolverines, fish, or any wildlife showing unusual signs or symptoms.
Subsistence research requires diligent communication among hunters and the NSB Department of Wildlife.
