The movements he coordinated consist of the transportation of personnel and/or military equipment via heavy equipment, tractor trailers, charter buses, military buses, charter aircraft, military aircraft, and a naval vessel. The attention to detail Sergeant Bolton displayed when coordinating these movements embodies what it means to be a Non-Commissioned Officer in the United States Marine Corps. Every movement Sergeant Bolton planned and coordinated was successful. The transportation he coordinated and supervised the execution of totals $3,336,381.82. This is not including military movements. Sergeant Bolton's most notable accomplishment was his embarkation planning during Fiscal Year 2017 Annual Training. He simultaneously planned and executed the movement of the Battalion's personnel and equipment, which is geographically dispersed throughout Southwest Louisiana and Southeast Texas, in support of BALTOPS 17, MTX 4-16, V21 MCCRE, and a field training exercise at Camp Robinson, AR. He is responsible for successfully transporting a company-sized equipment set from Houston, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana and embarking it on the USS Arlington (LPD-24) in Norfolk, VA in support of BALTOPS 17. Moreover, he is responsible for successfully moving Bravo Company (Rein) from Houston, Texas and Shreveport, Louisiana to Poland and back. He also created and maintained an accurate Battalion Equipment Density List in the MATF Deployment Support System (MDSS II) during a time of a significant change in accountability throughout the Battalion. Sergeant Bolton also excelled in his collateral duty role as the Battalion Ammunition Chief. From the day he was appointed to the role he demonstrated a desire to excel in the subject area. He quickly began to single-handedly manage the Battalion's Total Ammunition Management Information System (TAMIS) account. Additionally, he is responsible for the request, draw, issue, live turn-in, dunnage turn-in, and reconciliation of ammunition and dunnage in support of twenty live fire training evolutions throughout his time with 1st Battalion, 23d Marines. He displayed incredible flexibility by learning the differences between the Marine Corps and the Army regarding ammunition handling and transportation, performing such tasks in a safe manner and ensuring 100% accountability. Sergeant Bolton's accomplishments enabled the successful annual, combat, and combat service support training of over 1,000 Marine and Sailors in the active and reserve components. His total dedication to duty, robust work ethic, and steadfast attention to detail in the performance of his duties absolutely merits the award of the Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medal." Having the lead of the S-4's operations, Staff Sergeant Bolton attended all of the Operations/Logistics synchronization meetings and planning conferences. Because of Staff Sergeant Bolton's training and hard work ethic, DPC/RSU-E was able to maintain a visibility of these assets until they were properly accounted for. Additionally, during the conduct of the cycle support, he coordinated and supervised 312 Marines and Sailors for billeting. The billeting required him and his Marines to foresee future deployers processing through the command and validate the use of command's billeting capacity while maximizing flexibility within a 60 day window period.
