LEADERSHIP

  • Throughout my time in orchestra, including currently, I have led many small ensembles. I organize where and when we practice, create instrumental arrangements tailored to what I know each musician can play, and also make sure that each member is happy with their parts. I also make sure morale is kept high while providing feedback and keeping us on track to reach our goals.
  • My time at Berklee also offered several opportunities to practice leadership. I had several group projects that required learning my classmate’s skills and utilizing them properly. I had to work with people that I never met and quickly figure out the best way their talents could help enhance my work. We also had an opportunity to work with a large film orchestra. However, we were only allowed 11 minutes to do recording passes. This meant we had to come up with constructive feedback quickly while staying calm under pressure.
