Customer service skills were important within this job, and I always prided myself on my ability to make customers the correct drink while making them feel at home. This job required many other important skills, such as money skills, time management, and attention to detail.

  • My duties as a lifeguard included watching my water cleaning bathrooms, teaching my swimming students professionally, patrons in need and prioritizing the safety of the answering questions, and other communal areas and positive attitudes. This included using effective communication. An especially important part of my job was my ability to maintain professionalism. I needed to be able to watch carefully, problem solve and respond and know the correct procedure if someone needed my help.

  • As a swim instructor, it was my job to oversee children ages 4-12 and prioritize their safety while teaching them how to swim. Every morning, I would get the proper tools and toys to help children grasp the course. I would incorporate them into lessons while making it fun for the kids. I would take my knowledge of certain strokes, floats, and swimming techniques and play fun games with the kids while working those swimming objectives into the lessons. While teaching, it was also paramount to prioritize safety, whether that meant keeping a close eye on all my students in and out of the water or teaching them about water safety for future pool visits. I am lifeguard, CPR, and WSI certified. My certification stands until 2025-05-16.

  • As a barista and server, it was my job to arrive and help open the store, run the till and count money, offer positive service to customers, memorize, and prepare a variety of drinks and bagel sandwiches, serve food or drink to customers with a smile, answer the phone, organize daily cleaning, and close the store. The most important part of this job was a positive attitude. If a customer had a question or if their order was wrong, it was my job to answer their questions or fix their orders while remaining cheery in order to give them a good experience. Another important part of this job was the ability to work well in a team. Teamwork was essential for this job because when people couldn't communicate or work with others, our efficiency would suffer.
