Summary

After working with children with significant behavioral challenges due to ADHD, Autism, and childhood trauma I have realized that I need to dedicate my life mental health counseling. As a person who identifies as Queer here in Eugene, I believe I have a unique opportunity to serve my community. My hope is to support adults and children as they process their traumas, develop coping mechanisms that will allow them to feel more in-tune with society and themselves, and heal relationships with themselves and their loved ones.

Doula and Lamaze Instructor

Birth, Reclaiming Motherhood
01.2011 - 01.2014
  • During this time I obtained my certification as a Lamaze Instructor and Birth Doula through DONA
  • My general practice was to make 5-6 home visits to my clients prior to birth in order to build relationships as well as provide private birthing class
  • I would be present for each birth and remain with my clients at least 2 hours after birth to ensure breastfeeding has begun
  • This was the case regardless of whether the client birthed at home, in hospital, or had a cesarean birth
  • I would also make at least two postpartum visits, one in recovery the next day and one once the clients were more settled at home (maybe 5 days out), with the option of adding more visits
  • These postpartum visits were just as much to answer questions the new parents may have as it was to assess how everyone was coping emotionally and physically so that I could make referrals as needed.
