Following a series I co-wrote about housing discrimination, the federal Department of Justice entered into a settlement agreement with LA County requiring reforms. After a series I co-wrote about a polluting lead-acid battery plant in east Los Angeles, federal prosecutors forced the plant to shut down. It is now one of the largest environmental clean ups in California history.
