I started being exposed to the medical field at age 14 when I became a volunteer at a local ambulance base in their Junior EMS program. I knew from that moment that I would be something in healthcare. At 16, I obtained my Emergency Medical Technician Certification so that I could continue to master skills at a basic level until I could legally work on an ambulance. At age 18, I acquired my first official job in healthcare in the Emergency Medicine industry. I then advanced a short time after to become an Advanced Practice Provider with a Paramedic certification. Years passed, degrees were obtained, my family was built, and I knew that it was once again time to advance my career. I decided to follow a dream of mine and go to nursing school as an adult learner. I then obtained a position as a Labor and Delivery nurse at a local hospital where I was encouraged to grow as a nurse by my peers. While there, I held many roles such as charge nurse for the unit and cross training to our level two NICU. I had always known that labor and birth was an interest of mine but working in the field solidified my decision to move forward with my education. I decided to enroll in Frontier Nursing University and hope to complete my degree in fall of 2026. I wholeheartedly believe in patient centered care and shared decision making and hope to continue to flourish in the new role I am about to embark on.
