Endoscopic Procedure Duties

Asist physicians and nurses during endoscopy procedure

Providing support with patient positioning, instrument handling,obtaining biopsies & tissue removal, ensuring labeling of pathology is correct, and anticipating the needs of medical team. Performing room turnover in a timely manner (5-8 minutes), setting up the room to the anticipation of the next procedural need. Performing 5-16 procedures per day. Maintaining cleanliness and are sanitized. Documenting patient information in electronic health records.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean and organized procedure room

ensuring all instruments, equipment, and supplies are ready, sterile, functional, and easily accessible for efficient workflow. Restock at the end of the day to maintain room supply to department standards. Communicate with supplies ordering staff when inventory is low.

Post -Procedure Duties:

  • Assist RNs with patient recovery rooms: Assist RNs with patient needs. Discontinue patient IVs under RN deligation. Dispose of linens and garbage. Sanitize surfaces and the gurney. Relocate gurneys to turnover staging areas. Assesble linens on gurneys for the next procedure. Dispose of dirty linens. Transport patients to the car after discharge.

Reprocessing,Sterilization,and Maintenance of Instruments

  • Reprocess and thoroufhly sterilize endoscope and coloscope:

following strict infection control protocols, using appropriate disinfecting agents, high-level disinfection methods, and sterilization equipment to ensure patient safety. Perform quality control checks on disinfectant fluids in reprocessing machines between cycles to ensure patient safety. Document quality assurance tracking.

  • Maintain cleanliness and safety in the Decontamination Room:

Sanitize all surfaces at the ens of the day. Ensure alldaily documetation is noted and stored to department standards.

  • Maintain an organized inventory of medical supplies

ensuring necessary materials and equiptment are stocked,readily available, and within expiration dates for the timely execution of procedures.

  • Perform routine quality control checks

on all reprocessing and sterilizationequipment, ensureing it meets compliance standards and operates optimally for infection prevention. Document and perform routine filter checks/ replacements on machinery.

Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and institutional standards including HIPPA guidelines, OSHA regulations, and infection control policies.
