Duties

  • Maintain structure and security during court proceedings.
  • Serve court documents and completed civil process duties for cases.
  • Provide testimony in court proceedings.
  • Build excellent rapport and working relationship with community to build trust and improve upon communication.
  • Respond to emergency calls to provide assistance to citizens in need.
  • Monitor traffic violations, issuing citations as necessary.
  • Utilize clear communication and interpersonal skills to build relationships with citizens.
  • Ensure visitors of the courthouse do not bring in prohibited items (cell phones, cameras, weapons etc.) for security purposes.
  • Train on emergency procedures regularly in the event of a bomb threat, active shooter, or fire evacuation.
  • Utilize the Incident Command System (ICS) to respond to critical incidents.
  • Operate the control center which contains various security measures (access control, intrusion detection systems, and live video and audio recording systems.
  • Provide prisoner transport
  • Utilize the x-ray machine and magnetometer to effectively scan all individuals entering the courthouse.
  • Communicate with command staff in regard to potential security risks and threats.
  • Monitor crowded public areas and events to mitigate risk and promote safety.
  • Assist and coordinate funeral escorts in the city of Fredericksburg.
