I am a retired general and Vascular Surgeon who practiced for 35 years in a busy general and vascular practice in Atlanta Ga. I also was Chief of Surgery for a MASH hospital in the Army Reserve National Guard for 10 years during my active practice . During that time I was active in teaching medical students and residents fro the various surrounding medical schools as well as writing scientific and personal interest articles in the academic literature . I also was highly involved in the American College of Surgeons participating in nearly every committee and level of leadership both on the State and National level recently ending my term on the Board of Directors . I have also had a strong interest and knowledge in health policy and am currently serving on the ACS Board of Directors for our Health policy and Advocacy group in Washington DC . During my tenure in private practice I served a term as a county commissioner and was very actively involved in Child abuse and gun violence prevention for which I was honored to run the Olympic torch in the Atlanta summer olympics .
