Passionate and driven entry level physical therapy student seeking to apply academic knowledge and clinical skills to contribute effectively to a dynamic health care team. Eager to continue learning and provide exceptional care to patients while furthering my professional development.
During my time here I managed a caseload of 10-13 patients a day. I performed very thorough evaluations ensuring that the patient was educated adequately and had a sound understanding of their plan of care and prognosis. I improved patient satisfaction by efficiently scheduling and managing appointments and administered interventions that were salient to the patient. I utilized evidence based practice to ensure that my clinical decision making would be the most optimal for each patient that I worked with. I utilized modalities and manual therapy techniques as necessary to obtain positive patient outcomes.
This clinic was an outpatient sports clinic where most patients were higher level active individuals recovering from orthopedic pathologies. This was a very high paced clinic where I was required to examine and evaluate patients, create an appropriate plan of care, perform manual therapy skills and lead patients through their interventions. Interprofessional communication was another important aspect of this clinic as well as educating patients on how to safely perform their sport-specific movements and lifting strategies in the weight room to minimize risk of injury.
During my time here I was responsible for chart reviewing and triaging patients appropriately. I was part of the Swing-Bed program at the hospital working with a variety of orthopedic, neurologic, and vestibular conditions. Gait, stair, and assistive device training was performed on a daily basis. I spent some time in the ER as well as on the inpatient rehab unit working with TBI, CVA, and spinal cord injuries.
