I'm a physical therapy student working to better understand the biomechanical, physiological, and psychosocial aspects of rehabilitation. I love helping people better themselves after injury, so they can be healthier than before they were injured. I am currently finishing a doctorate of Physical Therapy degree at The College of Saint Scholastica. My introduction to the physical therapy profession was when I injured my MCL in a football game when I was in high school. Going through the rehab process, seeing how friendly my therapist was and watching myself get back to the level I was previously gave me the motivation to be a physical therapist. Growing up in a hispanic family that has unfortunately seen appropriate health care being neglected made me want to better serve those populations in my own community. This helped me be empathetic for others, be culturally appropriate and being a person who wants to help others to the best of my abilities. I enjoy shadowing experts in the field and receiving constructive feedback to learn new ideas and strategies, so I can implement those ideas into my own work. My colleagues would describe me as a driven, resourceful individual who maintains a positive, proactive attitude when faced with adversity. Currently, I'm seeking job opportunities that will allow me to develop new skills and knowledge to the physical therapy world. Specific fields of interest include outpatient orthopedics, neuro-rehabilitation as well as sports therapy.
