After years of being an employee for someone else, I finally made got my business license for Affinity Janitorial Services And Building Maintenance, LLC. Though it was only a year in business, I could clearly see we were going to do well. The 1st job was to maintain one of the biggest night clubs in Tucson, HIFI Food and Spirits.
Before that, at Steamworks, I was in charge of that huge housing development retirement community called Saddle Brook, in Oro Valley. I did the entire recreation facility, a huge place for our retirement community to play, create, have parties, swim, exercise, watch films, you name it! Also, we did the 3, 5 star restaurants on River and Campbell. Keep in mind, we worked 7 days a week. No time off.
Transformation Painting, was owned by my brother Jr. Altland. I worked for him for almost 5 years. Supervising a 4 person construction cleaning crew, had it's moments. It was a good experience for me as far as leadership goes and getting things done in a timely fashion.
"The Happy Pig" was also a complete joy everyday. My boss, David French, was one of the most happiest and positive people in the world. I met a lot of good people doing residential cleaning for Dave. Most of our work came from the Foothills, in the Tucson Mountains. It was a crew of 6 people. We were all close knit. David got HIV, and continued to work his business until he could not do it anymore. Sadly I stayed with him to the end. I helped him close his business, and he died about 3 months later. Best experience of my life. Yes, I love cleaning, I always will love cleaning.
