Responsible for overseeing the health, welfare, and productivity of poultry flocks, ensuring compliance with industry standards, and supporting farm operations through technical guidance and management.

Core Responsibilities

• Oversee bird health and welfare: Regularly inspect flocks for signs of illness, injury, or distress; monitor growth and performance metrics.
• Implement health programs: Follow veterinarian-developed health plans, including vaccination schedules, routine medications, and post and post-mortem/lab testing when needed.
• Medication and treatment decisions: Decide on appropriate treatments for sick birds, in consultation with management, and document all medication use
• Environmental control: Ensure proper temperature, humidity, ventilation, and lighting in housing to maintain bird comfort and productivity.
• Feeding and water management: Monitor feeding schedules, ensure access to clean water, and oversee feed and water system performance .
• Biosecurity compliance: Enforce strict biosecurity measures to prevent disease outbreaks and protect the flock.
• Record-keeping: Maintain detailed service reports, inventory logs, and performance data to track issues, improvements, and compliance .
• Training and guidance: Provide technical advice to growers and farm workers on best industry practices, environmental control, and management procedures.
• Problem-solving: Address urgent flock issues promptly, coordinate with staff, and make critical decisions to maintain productivity.
• Reporting: Attend management meetings, report health and operational issues, and recommend corrective actions.
