I attended the 108th Amarillo College Panhandle Regional Law Enforcement Academy in October 2013 and graduated in March 2014. I graduated with honors as the class Salutatorian and also was recognized as the recipient of the Walter Eubanks Outstanding Student award. This award is decided by the academy class and I was selected as the person that they would like to have as a supervisor.
In March of 2014, I began my career as a police officer with the Dumas Police Department. I promoted to Corporal, Sergeant and in May of 2019, I promoted to Patrol Lieutenant.
Prior to attending the police Academy, I was employed by the City of Dumas in June 2009 as an Animal Control Officer.
From September 1999 through September 2008, I worked for the Corrections Corporation of America, Kit Carson Correctional Center in Burlington, Colorado. I began my career as a correctional officer and advanced through the ranks as a Sergeant, Lieutenant, Captain, Unit Manager and Chief of Security before moving to Dumas, Texas in September of 2008. As Chief of Security, I oversaw the security of a 1,300 bed Medium Security Correctional Facility, supervised the security department of 80+ employees including five Captains, five Lieutenants, numerous Sergeants and Correctional Officers. Part of my duties included overall security of the facility, community relations, employee training and development, prepare for American Correctional Association audits to meet standards, maintain a positive working relationship with the Private Prison Monitoring Unit from the Colorado Department of Corrections and numerous other responsibilities. I also served as the S. O. R. T. (Special Operations Response Team) Commander and member. I was a certified instructor in Corrections Corporation of America "Guiding Principles", as well as a certified instructor in "Professionalism" and "Use of Force" provided by the Colorado Department of Corrections. I was also a certified instructor in Non-Violent Crisis Intervention provided by the Crisis Prevention Institute. I was also named Employee of the Quarter (2nd Quarter) and Employee of the Year in 2007.
