  • Facilitated Matrix groups for the Criminal Justice System on substance use and mental health
  • Met with participants, of our program, in the jail , one on one, to help them create a recovery plan, including goals they want to reach and actions they will perform to achieve those goals. I also would bring them back in intermittently to see what they were working on and see if the goals they were desiring had changed or had they added more goals.
  • Tried to keep track of dates that I knew were important to the participants so I could pull them out and talk to them on those days. Especially dates concerning the loss of a loved one, birthdays, anniversaries or holidays that they struggled with, while incarcerated.
  • Helped participants get an idea of what all resources are available to them when they get out of incarceration
  • Tried to encourage participants to believe in themselves and to know that change was possible.
