Undergraduate Research

2020-2021 Research Project

  • Worked collaboratively with a team of 6 undergraduate psychology majors to discover a link between parenting styles and a correlation between behavior issues in their children
  • Specifically worked in data collection, construction of the results section, and presentation of results to a board of professors and peers.
  • Concluded there in fact was a statistically significant correlation between authoritarian parenting styles and internal behavior issues (defined as self-damaging behaviors).
  • Concluded there was a statistically significant correlation between children with internal behavior issues and children with external behavior issues (defined as behavior that hurts others). Fifty percent of children with self-damaging internal behavior issues were also found to lash out with external behavior issues.

Fall 2022 Research Assistant

  • Worked as a data collector for a Miami University graduate student, Katelyn Wargel, on her research project studying the relationship between rates of graduation and mental health resources of any given district's school system.
  • Worked alongside over thirty other data collectors to successfully email our online survey out to 10,000 different school districts with proportional distributions across all 50 states.

2022 Independent Research Project/Poster Presentation

  • Aimed to identify a statistically significant correlation between daily average mobile device usage and GPA amount psychology majors at Miami University
  • Responsible for all aspects of implementing the scientific method into my research project, including identifying all independent, dependent, control, and confounding variables in my study, formulating a hypothesis, and distributing surveys both online and in-person through the psychology department. I then was responsible for constructing a full and elaborate APA research article to summarize my findings through an abstract, introduction, methods, results, data, graphs, conclusion, and discussion section.
  • Received a 100% on my poster presentation and research article along with an A+ for the independent research course.

Fun Fact

To earn extra money in college, I was also became a full time hibachi chef, as well as a extra in a Netflix film starring Adam Sandler
