As System Preservation Engineer, I am responsible for the coordination and development of (IM) interstate maintenance projects in Division 10 based of the STIP, job duties include the development of, project estimates, drawings, special provisions, and details. Job responsibilities include the scoping and coordinating with the various departmental units, and private engineering firms to ensure on time project delivery.
Responsible for the program delivery of the yearly contract resurfacing program for Mecklenburg County, which includes the planning, prioritizing and coordination with the County Maintenance Engineer to ensure on time project delivery within the current HMIP.
Other duties include the daily administration of contracts in the construction unit which includes the supervision of inspectors and the daily administration of contracts from start to their final closeout.
As County Maintenance Engineer, I was responsible for the over all planning and prioritizing of maintenance operations for the state's highway system within Mecklenburg county, which consist of roadway repair, drainage, and brush control within state right of way, litter management, and snow & ice removal. Duties include the management of a yearly maintenance budget, personnel, and equipment, managing the Newell Maintenance and satellite salt storage facility located in Pineville NC, during snow and ice weather events. Additional duties include ensuring facilities were in compliance with NPDES (National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System) through material management and storage, prioritizing and scheduling work, conducting pavement condition survey every two years on all none primary roads, and the selection and prioritizing of roads placed on resurfacing contracts.
