- Monitor critically-ill patients suffering from hepatic and/or renal failure, sepsis, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and other illnesses
- Titrate vasoactive medications, sedation, and other drips, utilizing the patient's clinical condition
- Coordinate the patient's care with other disciplines, including the physician team, respiratory therapy, PT, and OT
- Record nursing assessments and interventions in EPIC
- Collect participant data, while ensuring participant safety
- Assist the principal investigator with data analysis
- Perform literature reviews
- Coordinate with research assistants to ensure timely project completion on pilot grants
Studies:
- Assist patients with daily hygiene care and ADLs
- Perform procedures (ECG, bladder scan, IV insertion, blood draw, vitals) when delegated by an RN
- Assist unit team with admissions and discharges
- Sit with patients exhibiting suicidal ideation or altered mental status
- Document care rendered in EPIC
- Lead monthly PCT meetings by collaborating with assistant nurse manager
- Conduct monthly fall intervention audits
- Function as unit secretary, as needed

- Enforce student conduct policies established by the VCU Student Code of Conduct and VCU Guide to Residential Living
- Respond to incidents when on-call after hours, and document incident reports
- Collaborate with other building staff on designing educational initiatives
- Drive the ambulance to 911 calls and facilities emergent or non-emergent
- Assist EMT-advanced or paramedic with providing patient care on scene
- Assume assistant-in-command role and complete clinical documentation on calls only requiring basic life support interventions
- Assist students with content questions in specific courses within the health sciences/pre-nursing curriculum (statistics, anatomy and physiology, microbiology, general biology I)
- Design PowerPoints for TEAS nursing entrance exam workshops
- Conduct TEAS nursing entrance exam workshops
