· Co-wrote and managed BioNetwork funded grant “Equipment to Enhance Training in Forest Technology and Horticulture” in 2004. Amount of funding: $133,092. Designed a modern biotechnology lab, purchased major equipment, and trained students in biotechnology principles and practices.

· Authored and managed the BioNetwork grant “Creation of a Laboratory / Classroom for Biotechnology Education Training.” Grant amount of $159,621 was awarded in 2005 allowing a dedicated modern biotechnology laboratory and classroom to be constructed and outfitted with equipment obtained from the 2004 grant.

· Participated in the “Plant Micropropagation Collaborative Partnership” grant funded by the BioNetwork in 2006. Amount of funding: $75,000. Four community colleges were awarded funds to research tissue culture protocols, design a website, and upload protocols and images for use by North Carolina Biotechnology Instructors in workforce training.

· Authored and Managed the BioNetwork grant “Development and Analysis of Protocols for Inclusion in The BioNetwork Plant Micropropagation Collaborative Project Database in 2007-2008. Funding amount was $25,000.

· Participated in the “Creation of Biotechnology Videos and Micropropagation Demonstrations for Enhancement of BioNetwork's Training and Workforce Development Mission” BioNetwork grant-funded project in 2008-2009. Amount of funding: $86,666. The project produced lab procedure “Train the Trainer” videos for different biotechnology experiments and techniques including DNA Sequencing, DNA Fingerprinting, Protein Purification by Chromatography, Sterile Techniques, and Plant Micropropagation.

· Scheduled classes, ordered supplies, and maintained laboratories and greenhouse.

· Supervised part-time instructors, greenhouse workers, micropropagation technicians, and acted as a consultant in the campus arboretum’s design and maintenance.
