To whom it may concern,

My name is John Stinsman and I honestly and truly believe that this is the job that I was born to do.

A bit of my relevant history...

I left NJ at 22 years old to pursue my lifelong dream of becoming a comic book artist in Los Angeles. I was met with success as I landed at Image Comics , illustrating comics there for over a decade.

Following my tenure there, I worked in animation at " Disney Special Projects ", working closely with Michael Eisner and his son as the head of the art department, also becoming an Art Director, as well.

After the Eisners left Disney, I went right back to illustrating comics and have successfully run my own independent, self-employed illustration business, creating drawings, covers, comic pages, character designs, etc for clients for over 20 years.

I have a massive, in-depth knowledge of the comic industry and comics in general, going well back to the beginnings of Marvel and DC. I am proficient in conditions, dates, eras, as well as key issues and the hottest creators.

I am equally (if not more) proficient in the realm of toys and collectibles, starting back in 1964 with Hasbro's original GI Joe line, all the way up to all of the current lines currently on store shelves (and beyond).

Any items that require additional information outside of my abilities to properly curate for sale can easily be found through years and years of working within the industry (as well as being a lifelong comic collector since 1977) and all the connections I've made, therein.

Due to my years as both a fan and creator of comic books, I have a strong social network with major connections that I can lean on to back up my thoughts and feelings on a given sale as well leading me directly to potential new sales.

Beyond the attributes, skill sets and knowledge that I would bring to the job, I have an endless and boundless passion for comic books/collectibles in general. I would value the opportunity to use all of my knowledge to bear at a job where I can work with a like-minded and ambitious team to make Goldin Auctions the absolute go-to auction house for premier comic books and comic related items.

I truly thank you for your time and the potential consideration to join your prestigious team! I anxiously await and look forward to hearing from you!

(Please note: I did not pursue a higher education because at the age and time in which most people pursue that, I was already knee deep in my chosen profession.)

  • - SKILLS & HISTORY -

- Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken. I have been the leader on many projects in my career and have curated a pleasant and agreeable management style that encourages employees to be a part of a team that is working at its highest levels.

- Strong connections and relationships in the comic book industry, built over 25+ years. Can utilize a vast network of connections that will allow me to pursue avenues that those without this experience could not bring.

- I am able to know and recognize important and valuable comics and collectibles and can assess their ability or inability to be recognized on the collectible (and monetary) scale.

- Long-time independent contractor/illustrator, running my own business, for over 20+ years. I work with multiple clients simultaneously, each requiring the knowledge and understanding of the individual projects and management styles needed to complete them to my client's fullest expectations.

- Bringing professional, top-notch service is something that I have always provided for my clients throughout decades of service and experience.

- A naturally thorough person, confirming the true value of an item, taking note of the tell tale signs of item that has been faked or tampered with, is something that I can discern rather quickly.

-Being my own boss for over 25 years, I'm highly organized and self-motivated and can also navigate inter-team communications to work towards a common goal..

- Knowledge of most of the common programs used to catalog inventory. What I do not know, I can easily and quickly learn.

- In closing: Dynamic Business Owner and Multimedia Illustrator with a proven track record in driving growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and fostering high-performing teams.
