Lead meetings, communicate job-critical information, and train new and existing staff on equipment and procedures.

Perform and oversee complex maintenance and repairs on protection systems, SCADA, communications, metering, and control equipment.

Conduct specialized testing such as trip test, protective relay calibration, and investigate equipment failures.

Ensure compliance with safety protocols, including hazard assessments and lock-out/tag-out procedures.

Coordinate work across teams and divisions to meet quality and timeliness standards.

Maintain calibration schedules and ensure the availability of tools, materials, and test equipment.

Respond to trouble calls, including emergencies and after-hours issues.

Arrange safe clearances and direct test preparations and work clearances.

Review and comment on technical plans and specifications for new or replacement systems.

Develop preventive maintenance procedures and assist engineers with equipment evaluations and system upgrades.

Prepare weekly work plans, activity reports, and overtime summaries.

Collaborate with engineers, vendors, and agencies to solve complex system issues and improve operations.

Initiate facility modifications and contribute to testing standards and system improvements.

• Assist with testing, maintenance, and repair of electrical and mechanical system components.
• Learn to troubleshoot, calibrate, and adjust pressure, temperature, flow, vibration, and control systems.
• Conduct pre-job hazard assessments and operate test instruments to record data.
• Perform preventive and corrective maintenance and assist in equipment installation and testing.
• Troubleshoot and repair defective components in response to trouble calls, including after-hours.
• Assist with specialized testing and service interruption investigations.
• Support maintenance and updates of SCADA systems and computer diagnostics.
• Maintain documentation, including test reports, equipment history, and system modifications.
• Assist with network equipment maintenance and computer/software upgrades.
• Collaborate with other teams, agencies, and vendors to resolve system issues.

• I started this position as an HEP Electrician Apprentice and over 4 years worked my way up to the level of HEP Electrician I.
• Typical job duties involve Install, repair, and maintain wiring circuits for electrical equipment, motors, and control devices; disassemble, repair and reassemble, motors, generators, large transformers, oil circuit breakers, disconnect switches, voltage regulators, power switchboards, and other electrical equipment; perform electrical troubleshooting and diagnose trouble under emergency conditions; install conduit, pull wire, and does control board wiring; instructs and leads unskilled assistants; tests and services storage batteries.
