MOC Manager

  • Develop and coordinate MOCs that are needed within the area I work in. Understanding “what is the change” on new projects or small outages. Ensuring proper crafts/departments are in meeting to discuss what changes are being made, so proper evaluation is being discuss. Developing the proper Pre Start Up Safety Review(PSSR checklist) to ensure all elements are in place before putting new equipment in service.
  • 2025 TA Ready for Maintenance MOC Manager – Developed TA RFM MOCs for the 2025 Mid Crude TA. Also coordinated PHAs that were needed in areas that were using Thermal Oxidizers.
  • 2024 Ready for Maintenance East Plant MOC Manager - Help support the 2024 East Plant TA as RFM MOC Manager. Developed and facilitated all the RFM temporary MOCs for each area and PHAs for units that use thermal oxidizers. Also developed/clean up Event management book for operations team for shutdown/start up that needed to be turned in to Refinery Shift Manager. Turnaround Event Manager also leaned on me to help with alignment of Ready for Maintenance priorities during shutdown/Start Up phases for units that required additional guidance due to limited experience.

RFM Operator (Senior Operator)

  • Day to day unit operations duties and maintenance duties. – Help with day-to-day unit operation duties, serving like a daily floater, trouble shooting and writing permits. Assist with training new operators in units I am certified in. Perform general maintenance duties on work orders that are labeled for RFM Operators. Prepare unit equipment for maintenance work. Work through the area Work Order backlog to identify WO that can be executed online, that were initially tagged at Turnaround WOs. Step up for supervisor when on vacation helping to prioritize scheduled work. Has been part of many Turnarounds with experience in decommissioning and commissioning equipment/units.
  • 2023 Daylight Event Commander for SRU 2 and ISOM 3 Turnaround – This leadership role required me to work with the Turnaround Event Manager and Turnaround group to come up with a team and plan to safely shutdown, chemical clean and start up the units to safely perform work during the turnaround and meet sponsor objectives. Develop a unit shutdown and start up timeline to help align when Turnaround window can start. Required to give high level updates to Refinery Leadership Team throughout the Turnaround. Also, required to put a team together to have a one-time start up for the units. Oversee Outside Coordinators who help with cleaning plan and ensuring plan is capturing all unit equipment that is being worked on. Work with Outside Coordinators to make TA packages for the Unit Turnaround team so they have everything ready to walk down and study to prepare for the turnaround.
  • 2019 Sour Water “A” Event Commander and Outside Coordinator – This leadership role required me act as Event Commander and Outside Coordinator. This required me to Developed Decommissioning, Commissioning and cleaning plan to ensure a safe environment for contractors to perform turnaround work scope and ensure sponsors objective are met. Give management weekly updates on timeline and work outside in the field. Put TA packages together so outside help could have to walk down and study to prepare for the turnaround.

  • Master Level Permit Writer.
  • Outside Coordinator for 2015 SRU 3 TA and in 2017 SRU 3 Revamp TA – developed shutdown, chemical clean and start up plans for each turnaround event. Helped with putting team together in strategic areas to accommodate workload.
  • 2016 Event Commander/Outside Coordinator for Sour Water “B” T/A - This leadership role required me to Developed Decommissioning, commissioning and cleaning plan to ensure a safe environment for contractors to perform turnaround work scope and ensure sponsors objective were met.   • System Lead for ISOM 3 T/A in 2016 – oversaw my specific area within the TA to help lead outside help to safely shutdown, decommission, commission and clean equipment for turnaround work scope.

  • Monitored for fugitive emission on process equipment; certified to monitor and do visual inspections on control valves, pumps, canisters, containers (vacuum boxes & roll out boxes), Frac tanks, NESHAP and waste watcher drums. Method 21 certified. Records data finding and logs reports in regulatory formats; utilizes TVA machines to monitor pumps, containers and drums; ensures equipment that is monitor are in compliance with codes and regulatory standards. Climbs towers and pipe racks in units to monitor valves. Meets with operators, plant leaders and process coordinators on a regular basis to look up items on PID’s and discuss items that are leaking and need repairs. Current position with CB&I is Remonitor Tech. I am also the company representative for the Professional Initiative Craftsmen Committee (PICC Group). A committee that involves all core contracting companies at Flint Hills represented by one member of each company that discusses new ideas that help make the contractor life more efficient and safe in the refinery. I am also a step-up safety representative when our safety manager is not present.

  • Responsible for checking vehicles entering and exiting the refinery premises; check contractor’s badges for updated safety council testing and TWIC card; assist with servicing badge readers and services the refinery security camera system as needed; ensures the overall security posture of the premises are enforced and guarded to prevent unauthorized entry of personnel and vehicles.
