As a lead my pack was essential weighing 50+lbs and carrying a 3-1 grigri system for emergency lowers, extra pulleys and rope for midline rescues (ziplines up to 3000+ ft), first aid, water, and a couple of useful hand tools
My equipment and supplies were used daily, so inventory, resupply, and inspection were crucial at the end of each tour
Problem solving was paramount
I was among the initial individuals on scene for rescues, wilderness first aid responses, or any other issue that would arise
The safety of the other guides and clients was always the #1 priority
Being able to quickly adjust to varying conditions, situation, and paying attention to dynamic details were pertinent skills
As a lead it was my responsibility to assess and manage the risk factors the course presented such as limited resources, heat, physical demand/requirements, elevation, and the mental status of the clients.
