· Plans and executes care plan an individualized care plan for patient ( e.g. allergy, implants special equipment needed)

· Counts with the surgical tech or surgical scrub nurse to guard the patient from unintentional surgical items

· Confirms validity of consent, surgical site marking for correct laterality side and level.

· Preserves and protect patient’s rights, privacy and dignity throughout the perioperative period

· Safely transfer the patient to OR table with belts applied and positioning patient safely.

· Document accurately nursing intervention, medication given (prepare and safely administer medication), implants used, specimen label and surgical procedures

· Collaborate with perioperative team (radiology, anesthesia) to provide quality of care for patient and updating the relatives on surgery.

· Ensure sterility is maintained in the intraoperative period, keeping eye on the sterile field, assist student in gowning and gloving

• Uses the nursing process to provide nursing care by:

a. Assess the needs of the patient and involve the family in getting a thorough history

b. Obtain accurate vital signs and document.

c. Preparing materials needed for a specific procedure and assisting the medical team in rendering care.

• Administer medications via the oral, intra-muscular, subcutaneous, intradermal, topical, rectal, respiratory, and intravenous (including intravenous push on a unit specific basis) routes.
• Attended various patient conferences with the multidisciplinary team
• Document in-patients medical record patient’s appearance, emotional status, interaction with staff and/or family, knowledge level of disease process and response to medical plan and nursing actions, on a continual basis.
• Give instructions as per doctors’ order for take home medications and instructions
