Summary

I have been at West Tennessee Healthcare for 17 years as a clinical pharmacist with broad experience in all aspects of pharmacy workflows and operations. The last 6 years I have been in an Informatics role with experience in managing pharmacy build in Cerner for 3 years followed by an EMR transition to Epic. Our system fully transitioned to Epic in 2024 with our small Willow team supporting 7 hospitals and well over 100 clinics. I am passionate about patient safety and developing solid systems with a mind towards best practices while meeting staff needs. I am experienced in handling numerous projects and effective at prioritizing tasks while meeting deadlines.
My initiative and goal-oriented professionalism have served me well as I have navigated working within both the Information System and Pharmacy departments. I am reliable, adaptable, and learn quickly. In my extensive experience working and leading committees, I have developed strong analytical, communication, and teamwork skills. I pride myself on having a positive attitude, flexibility, and a strong commitment to continuous learning and growth.

Informatics Experience

I have 6 years of experience specific to Pharmacy Informatics. In that time, I have developed numerous practical skills to enhance clinical workflows from drug acquisition to administration. I have outlined a few specifics below:

  • Worked in a team of two to build hundreds of mixture and other medication records to support clinical practice across seven inpatient hospitals, two surgery centers, and one cancer treatment center
  • Employed pump library software from Alaris and Sapphire to align pump mixture build with nursing practice and EHR ordering and clinical documentation
  • Produced high-quality medication-related build for order sets through close work with analysts from Inpatient Orders and other teams and clinicians from a wide range of specialties, then shepherded the build through validation by SMEs from across the organization
  • Acted as primary point of contact and workflow SME to interface Glytec's Glucommander product with Epic, identifying proper clinical practice, building EHR records appropriately, and working with vendor resources to test and validate the integration
  • Collaborated with oncology analysts and clinicians to integrate the Aria EHR used in cancer treatment with Cerner EHR used for inpatients before migration to Epic for both patient classes
  • Completed extensive renal dosing rule build in Vigilanz to provide clinical decision support
  • Cooperated with pharmacy management and operations to fine tune mixture build in Cerner and then Epic to ensure that mixtures could be safely and accurately prepared in the DoseEdge system and that charges would drop correctly
  • Performed initial and maintenance build in Cerner and Epic to align calculated medication dispense locations with expectations. This work includes gaining experience with Pyxis and RxStation ADS cabinets, and Talyst carousels
  • Extensive 3rd party experience with a host of different pharmacy-related vendors: eCaremanager, Surescripts, DoseMeRX, DrFirst, NHSN, TennISS, and numerous others.
  • Performed regular monthly medication load into Cerner [Multum] and Epic [Medispan].
  • Completed medication build for almost all mixture and orderable records used in treatment and therapy plans across seven outpatient infusion departments and one major cancer treatment center
  • Acted as pharmacy SME validating build of Beacon treatment and therapy plans
  • Adapted, corrected, and/or built OPAs in Epic to alert clinicians of risks and provide critical clinical decision support
  • Areas of particular clinical focus: neonatal/pediatric workflow, antibiotic build/antibiotic stewardship, chemotherapy build/validation, medication reconciliation, ED-specific workflows, OPA build/governance, order set and panel maintenance
  • Worked independently to write policies employed system-wide and bring system build into compliance with internal policy and practice as well as standards from external accreditation and licensing entities
  • Mentored pharmacy students and residents, working closely with them on numerous research and system improvement projects.
  • Participated as a sitting member on many committees within our system (both governance-related and clinical) accumulating ample experience with governance within a hospital system
  • Significant ambulatory experience in support of medication prescribing, CAM workflows within Epic, immunization support, medication build, clinic workflows, and assisting the EpicCare Ambulatory team with general maintenance.
